L'ortolan celebrates Burn's Night success
On 25th January Reading’s only Michelin starred restaurant brought the joys of Burn's Night to Berkshire.
L’ortolan restaurant in Shinfield, opened for the special Monday evening service with a special ten-course tasting menu that moved away from their typical French-inspired dishes. The delighted guests indulged in Scottish-inspired dishes including haggis, Aberdeen Angus beef and a Cranachan dessert. L’ortolan chef Alan Murchison, who represented Scotland in the last series of BBC2s Great British Menu, even celebrated his Scottish roots by cooking in his kilt.
“The restaurant was full, and the atmosphere in the kitchen was amazing,” says l’ortolan Chef Elliott Lidstone, “and it was great for us to cook different things and put a fresh twist on some traditional Scottish favourites.”
“We even celebrated with a wee dram of whiskey after service!” explains Elliott “It was a really great night.”
