Diners offered a taste of TV menu

The Executive Chef of Reading’s only Michelin starred restaurant will be battling it out in the final of a television cookery programme, and is offering guests the chance to taste his food for themselves.

The final of BBC2’s Great British Menu, which airs for five-consecutive nights from 31st May, will see chefs from around the country battle-it-out for a chance to cook at a royal banquet celebrating British produce.

To celebrate Chef Alan Murchison’s achievement in reaching the Great British Menu final guests of l’ortolan restaurant, in Shinfield near Reading, will be offered a special set menu of Alan’s dishes that won him the Scottish heat.

The 6-course special menu, which dishes include lobster and steak, will be available in the restaurant Tuesday to Thursday evenings for a limited period starting 8th June at a cost of £49 per head.

Alan Murchison fought off competition from two other Scottish chefs to win his place representing Scotland in the Great British Menu final for a chance of cooking for HRH Price of Wales.

“It’s an honor to join a line-up of such superb chefs” says Alan Murchison. “The whole experience offers a great opportunity to meet inspirational suppliers from my home region and to learn new techniques from the best.”
