Chris Horridge Tasting Menu

Chris Horridge joins us at L’ortolan not only as a Michelin starred chef but also with a wealth of knowledge in his specialist field. During the month of  July you will have the opportunity to experience his truly unique cuisine through a 6 course tasting menu that has been specially created for us.

Currently Chris is the only Michelin starred chef researching the implications of nutrition understanding within cuisine having previously worked closely with various universities, scientists & a nutritionist on joint projects investigating these areas of science.

Under his direction, in 2008, International magazine Conde Nast Traveller recognised his restaurant with their ‘Gold List award for food’ one of only 18 Hotel restaurants globally.

More recently and within two months of his arrival, Chris’ most recent venture was rated by American food and wine magazine as being one of the world’s most exciting restaurants to eat in 2009.

The reason for such critical acclaim? Chris is pioneering what he terms ‘3 dimensional cuisine’ which is based around presentation, flavour and nutrition, with top scores from some of the U.K’s premier food critics being proof it actually works.

A previous winner of the Caterer & Hotelkeeper ‘Acorn’ award which is given to few individuals each year under the age of 30 for their achievements in the industry, Chris has also taken part in various television and radio programmes notably BBC ‘Great British Menu’, UK TV Food ‘Market Kitchen’, BBC Radio 4 and a documentary researching ‘Umami’, the taste sensation we feel when eating foods high in glutamate.
