Chef Alan Murchison mentoring on Great British Menu

L’ortolan Chef Alan Murchison is judge & mentor on the BBC’s Great British Menu 2011.

Three Scottish Chefs will be battling it out in the kitchen on next week’s Great British menu, currently airing on BBC 2, for a chance to cook for important guests at The People’s Banquet.

The three chefs will be mentored throughout the week by L’ortolan Chef Alan Murchison who will also score their dishes each day. The pressure is on, as only two chefs can make it through to cook for the Great British Menu judges at the end of the week, and Murchison will be sending one home on Thursday.

Murchison, who is a veteran of the competition and last year’s winner of the programme’s Scottish Heats, is Executive Chef at L’ortolan, Reading’s only Michelin starred restaurant.

Murchison said: “It’s great to be invited back to the show again this year and it is especially exciting to be involved as a mentor. It was really interesting to see the creative ideas from the Scottish chefs who were faced with a challenging brief.”

Great British Menu is currently aired weekdays on BBC Two at 6.30pm.
