Sourdough & Bread Demonstration
28th February - Sourdough & Bread Demonstration and Lunch
Chef: Alan Murchison
Sourdough has been around since the ancient Egyptian times and was probably the first form of leavening available to bakers. It has gained in popularity again in recent years with chefs and bakers having their own unique and often secret recipes. An essential part of the sourdough baking process is having a good 'ferment' - basically a mixture of flour and water and honey that is nurtured, fed and fermented over several days to enable the distinctive flavour to develop and ripen.

Fabulous for toast, sandwiches and amazing with cheese and chutney, a good sourdough is a real treat and a great alternative to commercial yeast based breads.
Alan will also be showing you some of the other delicious breads that we make here at L'ortolan. Come and find out more in his entertaining demonstration followed by a relaxing three course lunch.
